During assembly, the sheets are placed together and clamped in the free space between the thread and the head. Stitching screws should always be tightened to spin. The right free space reduces the risk of incorrect assembly. If there is too little free space, there is a risk that the lower sheet will loosen when the screw spins and if it is too great, the sheets will not be tightened together properly.
